A judge has struck down Wyoming’s overall ban on abortion and its first-in-the nation explicit prohibition on the use of medication to end pregnancy.

Women, nonprofits argued the bans violated a state constitutional amendment that competent residents have a right to their own health care decisions.

The ruling found that two state laws — one barring use of abortion pills, and one banning all forms of abortion — violated the state’s “fundamental right to make health care decisions.”
