Efforts to rescue eight labourers trapped in a flooded coal mine in Assam’s Dima Hasao district are on as specialized navy divers work alongside the army and the National Disaster Response Force personnel.

Six workers are still trapped in the mine while the bodies of two others, whose deaths were confirmed by the state government, are yet to be recovered.

Rescue teams were working on Tuesday (January 7) to reach nine men trapped in a flooded coal mine in the remote district of Dima Hasao in Assam, India. Authorities said at least three miners were feared dead.

Around 40 people entered the well-shaped mine at around 9am on Monday. The workers likely contacted a source of water which soon flooded the mine.
