With Jurickson Profar wrapping up his 80-game suspension for violating MLB's performance-enhancing drug policy, the Atlanta Braves have decided to cut ties with Alex Verdugo.

The Atlanta Braves have designated veteran outfielder Alex Verdugo for assignment, the team announced Wednesday. Verdugo's departure clears space for fellow outfielder Jurickson Profar, who returns from a PED suspension to face the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday ( GameTracker ).

Verdugo has hit .203 in his last 42 games. Profar will return from an 80-game suspension handed down four days into the season.
