The last moments before Laken Riley was killed while out on a run on the University of Georgia's campus were shown in court Tuesday on the third day of the trial involving the murder of the 22-year-old nursing student.

Prosecutors shared evidence in court of the last known communication from Laken Riley to her mother Allyson Phillips, and the parent's subsequent replies.

Jose Ibarra, 26, faces charges including murder, kidnapping, and assault. Prosecutors presented evidence, including testimony from Riley’s roommate and forensic details, alongside jailhouse calls in which Ibarra’s wife pleaded for answers. Ibarra, a Venezuelan national who entered the U.S. illegally in 2022, has pleaded not guilty.
