The judges of the Southern District of New York have approved Jay Clayton to remain as the top federal prosecutor in Manhattan

Interim Manhattan US Attorney Jay Clayton avoided a protracted fight over his temporary appointment when a group of judges approved him to remain in the post pending confirmation as a permanent prosecutor by the US Senate.

Former SEC chairman Jay Clayton will stay on to oversee what is considered the nation’s most prestigious and influential federal prosecutor’s office.
