This past weekend brought Kansas sub-zero wind chills, up to 12.5 inches of snow and a woman's death from apparent hypothermia after she left a bar.
The Kansas City area received between 3 and 6 inches of snow in the weekend’s winter storm, snowfall totals from the National Weather Service show. The official count for the Kansas City area as a whole is 5.2 inches, taken at the Kansas City International Airport, the metro’s official weather reporting station.
A winter storm expected to hit more than half the nation dumped as much as 7 inches of snow on western Kansas late Friday, Jan. 23, and early Saturday, Jan. 24.
The cold weather arrived with vengeance Friday morning in Kansas City, with temperatures dropping into the single digits.
