Before No. 8 Michigan State basketball hosts No. 2 Michigan, the Spartans must find their focus for an East Coast road game Tuesday at Rutgers.

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Big Ten Conference announced the 2026 football schedule for the Michigan State Spartans and new head coach Pat Fitzgerald. The schedule was released on Tuesday (Jan. 27) on the Big Ten Network. Michigan State’s three nonconference games are: Sept. 5 vs. Toledo, Sept. 12 vs. Eastern Michigan, and Sept. 19 at Notre Dame.

The Spartans' "floor general" is the first Michigan State player to win this award in some time.

BOTTOM LINE: Maryland faces No. 10 Michigan State in Big Ten action Saturday. The Spartans are 10-1 in home games. Michigan State is 1-1 in games decided by 3 points or fewer. The Terrapins are 1-7 in conference play. Maryland gives up 78.4 points to opponents and has been outscored by 4.1 points per game.

Rutgers hosts the No. 10 Michigan State Spartans after Tariq Francis scored 28 points in Rutgers' 82-59 loss to the Indiana Hoosiers.
