A Flash Flood Warning was issued for central Cook, southeast DuPage, and northern Will counties in Illinois until 8 p.m. The National Weather Service said Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated that the thunderstorms moving through the area were dropping rain at rates of 2 to 3 inches per hour.

CHICAGO - A severe storm watch was issued Monday afternoon for several Chicago-area counties. The watch is in effect until 6 p.m. for counties such as Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Grundy, Lake, LaSalle, McHenry and Will. The National Weather Service said tornadoes and quarter-sized hail are possible with wind gusts of up to 70 mph.
