Sir Keir added that all people could be caught “off guard” by their emotions. A spokesperson for Ms Reeves said she shed tears because of a "personal matter", and reports suggested that she had had a row with the Speaker of the House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, before taking her seat.
