Alphabet Inc. pays Samsung Electronics Co. an “enormous sum of money” every month to preinstall Google generative AI app, Gemini, on its phones and devices, according to court testimony, even though the company’s practice of paying for installations has twice been found to violate the law.

Peter Fitzgerald, Google’s vice president of platforms and device partnerships, testified on Monday that Google’s payments to Samsung started in January. That’s after Google was found to have violated antitrust law,

Google admits that the company paid Samsung "enormous sums of money" to preinstall Gemini on its devices. Google is currently trying to fend off any allegations of it breaking antitrust laws, however, the company’s practice of paying for installations is in violation of the same law.
