Celestial enthusiasts across Southern California will have a chance to watch the moon turn red during a total eclipse early Tuesday, but you’ll have to be up before dawn to catch it.

Early Tuesday morning, the moon will flush crimson as it creeps through Earth’s shadow during a total lunar eclipse.

About 3:50 a.m., you’ll start to see the moon’s upper left limb begin to darken as it heads into the Earth’s umbra shadow.
