Joe Biden announced new conservation efforts and funding as he became the first sitting US president to visit the Amazon region, touring part of a rainforest nature preserve and meeting with local environmental activists.

Biden declared that nobody can reverse “the clean energy revolution that’s underway in America” even as the incoming Trump administration is poised to scale back efforts to combat climate change.

Biden’s emphasis on climate change during his trip creates yet another contrast with Trump as the president prepares to leave office.
