Mbeumo wants Manchester United, Brentford seem to have a replacement in Milambo, and Ruben Amorim surely hopes the 25-year-old is signed before pre-season begins, so the longer the Red Devils haggle over the £5m gap in valuation, the more they risk angering their Lisbon-born coach and supporters too.

The Cameroon international has been the subject of wide-ranging speculation during the off-season. United have reportedly had multiple bids for Mbeumo rejected, with Brentford thought to be standing firm on their valuation, which is said to be in excess of £62.5 million ($85.1 million).

United's full focus is on completing a deal for Mbeumo, after they saw a bid of of £55m plus £7.5m turned down.
