The retail giant’s Cancer Centers of Excellence collaboration with the Mayo Clinic now covers care for nearly all cancers

Walmart is making its Centers of Excellence (COE) associate health benefit available to even more of its employees currently battling cancer. Previously, the program centered around the most prevalent cancers, such as breast, lung, colon and prostate, but now eligible Walmart medical plans cover care for virtually any cancer.

(ABC 6 News) — Those working at Walmart and their families will soon have more cancer treatment options at Mayo Clinic. Those covered by Walmart’s insurance and diagnosed with most types of cancer will be able to get a second opinion from Mayo Clinic. Then, they can travel to Mayo for treatment if needed.

The retail giant’s move comes as more employers seek better care options and are paying particular attention to cancer treatments, benefits experts say.
