All traffic has been stopped on the M5 following a crash in Gloucestershire this afternoon, Tuesday, October 1. According to traffic monitoring site Inrix, the crash took place between junction 13 for Stroud and junction 12 for Quedgeley.

The M5 motorway in South Gloucestershire is closed in both directions due to severe flooding. Fire crews were called in the early hours of Friday 27 September to help rescue drivers from their cars. The road is closed northbound between junctions 16 and 14, with the southbound carriageway closed between junction 14 and 15.

A major crash has caused snarls on the M5 with the northbound carriageway currently closed to traffic. The collision involved a car with fuel spilt on the motorway between junctions 11 and 12. In addition, the bad weather is already making travel on the road difficult.

M5 Northbound closed, long delays due to flooding from J16 A38 Gloucester Road (Aztec West) to J14 B4509 (Thornbury / Falfield). Congestion to the A38 which is solid between Woodford and Almondsbury as traffic diverts.

The M5 has been hit with highly disruptive closures today (Friday, September 27) due to flooding caused by heavy rain overnight. A severe weather warning is still in effect. Diversions were in place for several hours while both northbound and southbound carriageways were closed.
