The bacteria that causes Legionnaires’ disease had been discovered in 12 cooling towers on 10 buildings, including a city-run hospital and sexual health clinic.

A fifth person has died from the Legionnaires' disease cluster in Central Harlem. NYC has confirmed 108 cases so far in the outbreak that began in late July. As of Monday, 14 are hospitalized.

The last of 12 cooling towers that tested positive for the bacteria currently spawning a Legionnaires’ outbreak in Harlem is being remediated Friday, with officials hoping containment efforts will help prevent another death.
