Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani is one of the best hitters in baseball year after year, generating offense that few can match, even though his pitching has been sidelined due to Tommy John surgery.

Shohei Ohtani took a successful first step toward his return by completing an up-down bullpen session. He's not there yet with game pitches, but the Dodgers are moving slowly as slowly as they can in hopes of getting him at peak later in the season.

With only a couple exceptions mixed in, the Los Angeles Dodgers have largely kept Shohei Ohtani on a schedule of throwing a light bullpen session every Wednesday and fuller work off the mound on Saturdays.
