Discord is getting a major update today that includes a "completely new version" of the chat app's in-game overlay, as well as new themes and options for the desktop client.

While the UI improvements are immediately obvious, Discord has also added a new game overlay to its desktop app that no longer hits your frame rates.

Discord announced on Tuesday that it rebuilt its Overlay feature from the ground up. The new Overlay makes streaming games on Discord more user-friendly on the streamer’s end.

Discord has begun rolling out a redesigned desktop app that features new free themes, the option to resize channels and a more efficient overlay.
