The Boston Bruins hired Marco Sturm as their new head coach, the team announced Thursday. Sturm replaces Jim Montgomery, who was fired in November after the team got off to an 8-9-3 start.

Sturm, 46, comes to the Bruins after three seasons as head coach of the AHL’s Ontario Reign. During his 15-year playing career, Sturm played for Boston from 2005-2010.
