Rescue operations were ongoing in Lincoln County as of 10 a.m., with abandoned cars blocking plows and at least two rescuers stranded.

With a storm expected to drop up to a foot of snow on Friday, the governor declared a disaster emergency and activated the national guard.

Light to moderate snow is expected Saturday morning across the Denver metro and eastern plains. By the afternoon some of the snow could change over to rain as we see temperatures climb into the 40s. By Saturday evening the snow and rain will come to an end.
