With wins in five of the team’s past six games, Detroit remains atop the American League Central, 7.5 games ahead of the Cleveland Guardians. The Twins, still sitting down in fourth place, are 14 games behind the Tigers and eight back of a Wild Card spot.
The Tigers will wake up Saturday with their AL Central lead over the Guardians restored to 7.5 games and climbing.
