The International Monetary Fund pledged to work with Bangladesh’s interim government to regain economic stability as the country struggles to reduce pressure on foreign exchange reserves.

The IMF staff's review, following a Sept. 24-30 staff visit, also backed Bangladesh authorities' efforts to make economic adjustments in the face of those challenges such as slowing economic activity, double-digit inflation and pressure on foreign exchange reserves, the IMF said in a statement.

Pakistan this week secured a new $7 billion loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) aimed at helping the South Asian nation stabilize its ailing economy. But the country now faces challenging budget targets it has pledged to the IMF under the loan deal.
