Wausau ballot drop box now in use after mayor removed prior box
City Clerk Kaitlyn Bernarde announced an official drop box was secured outside of Wausau City Hall after a box was previously removed from the spot before it was in use by Mayor Doug Diny. Bernarde previously said she reported Diny’s drop box removal to the Marathon County District Attorney and Wisconsin Elections Commission.

Wausau Dropbox Returns, Secured Outside City Hall
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Wausau’s payment, document, and ballot dropbox has returned outside City Hall. In a press release, City Clerk Kaitlyn Bernarde says the box has been secured to the ground “in accordance with guidelines from the Wisconsin Elections Commission and the United States Election Assistance Commission.”

Wausau Mayor Doug Diny removed the city's outdoor ballot drop box on Sunday. Community members are arguing that Diny moved it illegally, because the Wisconsin State Supreme Court ruled in July that municipal clerks are the only ones who can place and remove ballot drop boxes.
