The graffiti leans to the tame and the sweet, and the bridge resembles more a messy birthday cake than a manifesto of anger or despair, although more than an occasional profanity appears.

Prince cues up the Graffiti Bridge movie sequence in which the band the Time performs “Shake!” The scene looks like something Busby Berkeley would have cooked up if he had choreographed funk.
