Newcastle has set up a fourth-round match against Chelsea in the English League Cup by beating fourth-tier AFC Wimbledon 1-0.

A year on from Newcastle’s unforgettable 4-1 Champions League dismantling of PSG, Eddie Howe’s side negotiated an all-together different challenge to edge into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a hard-fought win over Wimbledon.

As expected, Newcastle United were able to get past AFC Wimbledon in their League Cup third round match tonight, thus setting up a fourth round tie against Chelsea. This third round match was supposed to be played last week at Wimbledon’s Plough Lane,
