Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Chris Sale has been named a finalist for the National League Cy Young Award. Sale is within striking distance of taking home his first career Cy Young. Between 2012 and 2018, he received Cy Young votes every season, finishing as a finalist twice - in 2014 and 2017.

Sure enough, the Triple Crown winners in the National League and American League -- Atlanta Braves left-hander Chris Sale and Detroit Tigers lefty Tarik Skubal, respectively -- were named finalists on Monday.

Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes won the NL Rookie of the Year award, but he feels Chris Sale is more deserving of the Cy Young.

ATLANTA — After his stellar first season in a Braves uniform, the Baseball Writers Association of America named Chris Sale as a finalist for the National League Cy Young Award. Sale will compete against Smyrna native and Phillies pitcher Zack Wheeler and Pirates rookie phenom Paul Skenes for the prestigious award.

With the NL Cy Young award to be handed out on Wednesday night, Pittsburgh Pirates rookie Paul Skenes fully believes it should be Atlanta Braves ace Chris Sale who should get the honor. He did win the NL Triple Crown for a playoff team.
