Dillon Dingler could’ve gone with something close to home when approached about a custom painted catcher's mask for Players Weekend. But the Massillon, Ohio, native and former Ohio State star turned Detroit catcher knew better.

Trey Sweeney drove in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning, Casey Mize struck out 10 batters, and the Detroit Tigers beat the Minnesota Twins 8-5.

With wins in five of the team’s past six games, Detroit remains atop the American League Central, 7.5 games ahead of the Cleveland Guardians. The Twins, still sitting down in fourth place, are 14 games behind the Tigers and eight back of a Wild Card spot.

Jack Flaherty opened with four scoreless innings before surrendering five runs on six hits in the 5th inning of a 9-6 loss.
