After finding the 30-ton steel hatch cover that blew off a coal carrier this week amid an explosion on board the ship, dive teams are working to find out how to remove it. Authorities are investigating the cause of an explosion aboard a cargo ship that was leaving the Port of Baltimore when it issued a mayday call.

Video posted to social media appears to show a cargo ship exploding in the Baltimore Harbor, near where the Baltimore Key Bridge collapsed in March 2024.
