Scattered thunderstorms and heavy rain poured over portions of the region Monday, with the National Weather Service issuing flash-flood warnings for some counties in western Central Texas through the afternoon. Some areas could expect as much as 10 inches of rain.

The search for unlikely survivors grew more desperate four days after one of the deadliest U.S. floods in decades. Ten campers and a counselor are among those still missing.

Fifty-nine people are dead as a result of the flooding and torrential rains in Kerr County, Texas, Sheriff Larry Leitha said during a Sunday-morning press conference. That tally includes 38 adults and 21 children, Leitha said.
