An explosion aboard a cargo vessel in Patapsco River caused no injuries Late Monday and is under investigation, Baltimore and federal officials said.

An explosion occurred Monday evening aboard a 751-foot bulk carrier in Baltimore's Patapsco River, near where the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed in March 2024.

A coal freighter was engulfed in a fireball as a powerful explosion took place near the site of Baltimore ’s collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge. The Coast Guard was called in on Monday following the dramatic explosion, which has now been fully contained, according to Baltimore city officials.
