Lakers coach JJ Redick gave a harsh reality check after ugly losses to the Hawks and Thunder on this road trip.

The Los Angeles Lakers would be adding another starter-caliber player, who once was a teammate with Luka Doncic.

Redick had the same look in his eyes and tone in his voice every opposing head coach has when it's their turn to face off against Gilgeous-Alexander. When you reach the all-time status he's in, there's no real way to limit his production.

The loss drops the Lakers, who wrap up a four-game road trip Friday night in New Orleans, to 8–4. They started with a loss to the Hawks and then beat the Hornets before getting crushed by the Thunder. The 29-point drubbing in Oklahoma City was their largest loss of the young season.

The Lakers may have looked awful on Wednesday against the Thunder, but that doesn't mean that they won't get a lot better in the coming months.

Without top defender Luguentz Dort (right upper trap strain) and All-NBA guard Jalen Williams (right wrist), Oklahoma City still held the Lakers to just 37.5% from the field through three quarters while extending the lead to 36 points.
