AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – West Nile Virus has increased this summer, making it difficult to spend time outside at night. Health officials continued to warn of increased activity, as the risk for the virus goes up. The number of mosquitoes with West Nile has jumped this summer to at least 150 mosquito samples testing positive in Massachusetts.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health announced that West Nile virus (WNV) has been detected in Culex pipiens/restuans mosquitoes collected in Lincoln on August 5, 2025. This raises the risk level in Lincoln to moderate.
