A U.S. envoy has arrived in Beirut to meet with Lebanese officials about a possible cease-fire in the Israel-Hezbollah war.

US Middle East mediator Amos Hochstein arrived in Beirut early Tuesday in an effort to finalize a ceasefire agreement that would end the ongoing war between Israel and Hezbollah, a government source said and state media reported.

U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein landed in Beirut on Tuesday for talks with officials on a truce between armed group Hezbollah and Israel, Lebanon's state news agency said, hours after a proposal drafted by Washington won a nod from the Iran-backed group.
