Houston won’t formally acquire Kevin Durant and Clint Capela until this weekend, and The Athletic says the deal may involve an NBA-record seven teams.

The Athletic's Fred Katz reported Wednesday night that the Houston Rockets' Kevin Durant deal with the Phoenix Suns could expand into a seven-team bonanza. The trade hasn't been made official yet, which allows for this maneuvering, most of which would be done to move some salary around between various teams.

The Houston Rockets have been one of the busiest teams in the early portion of the NBA offseason, but they reportedly have plenty of work ahead of them that could include expanding the Kevin Durant trade.
