Supreme Court orders bail for actor Siddique in sexual abuse case, citing delayed complaint and lack of evidence.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday anticipatory granted bail to Malayalam actor Siddique in a rape case against him based on allegations levelled by a young actor. Recently, the Supreme Court on Tuesday had extended for a week the interim anticipatory bail to Malayalam actor Siddique.

The Supreme Court grants anticipatory bail to Malayalam actor Siddique in a 2016 sexual assault case, directing him to surrender his passport and cooperate with the investigation.

A bench of Justices Bela M Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma said the veteran actor will have to deposit his passport and cooperate with the investigating officer in the probe.

The Supreme Court has granted anticipatory bail to Malayalam actor Siddique in a rape case, requiring him to cooperate with investigators. The complaint was filed eight years after the alleged incident.

Siddique, who was booked for offences under Sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), had claimed in his plea that complainant woman had subjected him to a "prolonged campaign of harassment and false accusations since 2019.

In a big relief to Malayalam actor Siddique, the Supreme Court on September 30 granted him an interim protection from arrest in a rape case registered against him based on allegations by a Malayalam actress. The bench had later extended the interim protection on subsequent hearings. Today the top court granted him pre-arrest bail.

An FIR was filed against Siddique in connection with the sexual assault allegations by an actress in August this year.
