CHOSITI, India (AP) — Flash floods triggered by torrential rains have killed over 200 people and left scores others missing in India and Pakistan over the past 24 hours, officials said Friday, as rescuers brought to safety some 1,600 people from two mountainous districts in the neighboring countries.

The Met Office has warned that torrential rains may trigger flash floods in local streams of northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, and Kashmir while hill torrents in D.G Khan and eastern Balochistan may also swell dangerously during this period.

A flash flood watch is in effect until midnight Wednesday in Cook, DuPage and Will counties, plus some parts of northwest Indiana, the National Weather Service said.
