When using Gyro Ball, Metagross must be positioned carefully because the move only hits targets that are close to the Pokemon and activates instantaneously. Furthermore, Gyro Ball can only produce a shield when it strikes objects outside of the circle.

Jan 11, 2024 · You have to hit multiple enemies in order to get a shield and you have to have enough skill to know when to use it. The damage is super high but I think it just went from an unusable move to the best move on its kit. Zeraora definitely feels more oppressive. Bait or lacking brain function?

Gyro ball did not need a shield AND a damage increase just the shield and it would have been good as a tankier build. Using metagross now is like bringing 2 and a half release metagross. To be fair to TiMi, they released it for gems only while it was useless.

When the Pokémon hits an opposing Pokémon with a boosted attack, the cooldown of Iron Defense, Meteor Mash, or Gyro Ball is reduced. When the user hits two or more opposing Pokémon with this boosted attack, the moves' cooldowns will be reduced even more.

Compute and Crush, Gyro Ball, and Meteor Mash from Metagross all produce shields that increase stronger the more opponents they strike. Additionally, the length of hindrance effects is decreased by its ability, Clear Body, which is dependent on the number of opponents around.
