Coprophagia and coprophilia - stereotypic & abnormal behaviour in captive animals

Wise On on Instagram: "Yep—hamsters can eat their own poop, but it’s not “bad hygiene.” It’s a normal behavior called coprophagy, where they re-eat soft droppings (cecotropes) to get nutrients their body didn’t absorb the first time. Those cecotropes can help them recover extra B vitamins, protein, and other nutrients made available by gut microbes.
