Alexander Borodin: Between science and music

When I began my high school career I decided to take up the trumpet. By grade ten I was in the band but it wasn’t just any band. It was the Laurentian High School 110 member Symphonic band. Our director, teacher and mentor was Henry Bonenberg. We met five days a week at 8 AM for one hour of rehearsal before the school day began. Twice a year we performed a two hour concert complete with intermission on a Friday or Saturday evening to a packed auditorium just off the main entrance to our school.
